The factory bypass hose assembly uses a plastic elbow that hardens and eventually splits. When it lets go, you lose coolant fast and you are on the side of the road.
This kit replaces the whole assembly with reinforced hose and a cast elbow. It is the permanent fix rather than another factory part that will do the same thing again.
